Good afternoon, Torpedo family.
I come to you today with the unfortunate news that we will be canceling our planned season for 2020. We are hoping to creatively do something with our swimmers in July, but there is still much uncertainty with regards to what we as a facility will be allowed to do.
Collectively the TSL teams decided that it was not possible to hold a swim meet in the sense that we all know and love while maintaining social distancing, not to mention stay under the maximum number of people allowed at outdoor gatherings currently allowed by the state. In addition, at least two of our five teams will not have pools available until July, if at all.
Teams decided we would, if possible, try to do something as individual teams once we are able to do so. At this point, we don't have any definitive plans for what we will be doing, but please feel free to share ideas with me.
We love seeing our swimmers improve and grow, having fun competition, and the overall family feel of VTST, and I want to assure you all this decision was not taken or made lightly. We hope we will get to see you all in July.

2020 Summer season/ COVID-19 Update Friday, May 15
Good morning, Torpedo family!
I hope everyone is well. I know a lot of you are wondering what this summer will hold, both in and out of the pool. Our pool is currently closed in Valdese, but we are hopeful we can open in some form or fashion as the state enters phase 2 of the re-opening plan.
As of today, the teams of the TSL have not yet made a final determination with regards to the 2020 season. The coaches, team representatives, and facility management for all of our teams have a lot to consider as we ponder how this season will work, and, as of now, there is still much unknown about how we will be permitted to proceed under state and local guidelines. Pool opening dates, staffing levels, pool occupancy levels and bather load, social distancing/ group sizes, travel between locations, and budgetary considerations are all things which have been brought up which have implications on how we can make this season work.
The coaches and team representatives from all of our member teams will be meeting on Friday morning, May 22, to determine what our course of action moving forward will be. Once we have come to a consensus, I will provide an update here, and link to it on Remind, Twitter, and on our Facebook group page.
I hope everyone stays safe during this time. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
