Great Start to the Summer!

Good afternoon, Torpedo family!

Other than yesterday's storms, this has been a great week! You all and your swimmers have done really well getting to practice on time and ready to swim, and I and the other coaches are very appreciative. 

A reminder for next week that we will practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On June 3, we will be moving to our split times.

On Tuesday we will have our meet book available at the pool counter. Sign your swimmers up for the meets you know you will be attending. We use an opt-in system for meets. Please remember, if you don't sign your child up for a particular meet, then THEY WILL NOT BE ENTERED.

This year we wanted to do something really fun for our home meets, and each home meet has a theme.The themes are as follows:

June 15: Jersey Day - Wear a jersey from a favorite team or player!

June 22: Luau Meet 

June 29: Christmas in June 

July 6: America Meet

We'll have special prizes for our hot heat winners at those meets! Parents, we'd love to have you dress up and participate in the festivities!

One Week until Practices Start!

 Good afternoon, Torpedo Family!

We've got one more week until practices start! 

The coaches will be meeting Thursday to go over our plans for the season, and we're looking forward to a great time with a great team!

Don't forget this Friday, May 17 is our Kick Off event! It will be from 5-6pm, and we're going to be up at Rotary Park by the pool (or in the Splash Pad Building if it is raining). We want you to come meet the coaches, have a sweet treat, and talk about the upcoming season!

It's not too late to sign up, so if you know someone who is interested but has questions, invite them to come to the Kick Off and meet us.

After we're done with the Kick Off, head over to the Family Friday Night Kick Off at Temple Field behind the Old Rock School! Music starts at 7pm, but there will be food and fun!

 As a reminder, the practices before June 3 are as follows:

Monday, May 20- Thursday, May 23; Tuesday, May 28- Thursday, 30:

Ages 11 and Up: 3:30pm-4:30pm

Ages 10 and Under: 4:30pm-5:00pm

Please have swimmers changed and on deck with a kick board at the start time of practice. These are somewhat abbreviated practices and every bit of time is important.

Practice Schedule for the Season and Some Coaching Information

Good evening, Torpedo!

We have a little over two weeks before we start practicing on May 20. 

We'll have the entire team on site in the afternoons from then until Burke schools are out. Then we will switch into more divided age groups with more training geared to the different age groups. 

May 20-May 23; May 28-30:

Ages 11 and Up: 3:30pm-4:30pm

Ages 10 and Under: 4:30pm-5:00pm

June 3-August 2:

Ages 9-10; 11-12: 8am-9am Mon.-Thurs.

Ages 13-14; 15-18: 9am-10am Mon.-Thurs.

Ages 8 and Under: 5:00pm-5:45pm Mon., Tues., Thurs.

This year we will be doing an optional make up practice for our older swimmers the same evenings and times we have our 8 and under practices. If older swimmers can't make that particular morning practice, then there will be a somewhat shortened practice available in the evenings. Ideally though, we want to see everyone at the practices at the properly scheduled times with their teammates.

Make Up Age 9-18: 5:00-5:45pm Mon., Tues., Thurs.

Coaches:

This year, Coach Andersen will continue to be serving as our head coach. We will have several returning coaches, and several new coaches assisting, as well. The assistant coaches will be assigned different age groups to coach and be responsible for helping with at meets. Coach Andersen will be at different practices throughout the week, but will work with the assistant coaches on writing workouts and observing at practices. He will be at all meets.
