Heading into the Final Week!

Good morning, Torpedo!

This is the start of Championship Week for us, culminating with the League Championship meet one week from today. By now, if you are planning to swim in both Tuesday's and Saturday's meets, you should have signed up. I'll be finalizing everything this weekend.

Here are a few things for this week:
1. Practices are very important. If you are around and able to make it, please make every effort to do so. We will be really focusing on racing strategies and fine-tuning stroke technique, particularly among our younger swimmers.
2. Please try to get your swimmers to hydrate all week and and get good rest. Saturday doesn't look as hot as last year's meet, but it is still in our best interest to have everyone as rested and hydrated as possible.
3. We are going to need volunteers on Saturday to do a lot of things. We have most of our more specialized positions filled, but we will need timers and a few other jobs for the meet. I'll have a more complete list of our responsibilities later this week.

4. Timing system training: I'm going to put together a quick how-to document for everyone. Anyone interested in getting their hands on the machine before Saturday will have a chance Friday after the spaghetti dinner.
5. Friday is our team dinner! I will have a sign up on Monday for folks to sign up to bring noodles, bread, sauce (meat and veggie), salad, and water. PLEASE do not bring desserts. We want the best fuel in the swimmers for Saturday!
6. Saturday morning at 6am will be the first time you can set up tents for the day. Each team will have an assigned area to set up. When we know exactly where that will be, I will let you know.
7. PACK A COOLER! Bring some shade, share a tent with a friend, and bring water and healthy snacks (fruit, bagels, peanut butter, Clif bars) for your swimmers. After each swim, your swimmers need to consume some healthy sugars to keep levels even. This will make a big difference as we progress through the meet, and times will suffer if you aren't taking care of yourself. We want to win, so don't neglect this aspect of the day! Stay away from heavy foods like pizza or fried food.
