Good morning, Torpedo, from Oshkosh, Wisconsin!
Thank you everyone for your help this past Saturday. It looked like some good swims for our kids as we head into this last week.
Champs is this Friday for our 13 and ups, and Saturday for 12 and Unders.
Here is the calendar for the week:
To volunteer for the meet, please use this SignUp Genius: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/805044AABA828AAF58-64820702-tslconference?useFullSite=false
Entries:
Entries were submitted already. I will send out the final list Wednesday. From here out, I may shift relays, but all individual events are decided. We wanted to position our kids and team for the most success at the meet, and we feel like they will do great in these events.
Parking:
Parking will be available in the main parking lot, lower parking lot near the water tower behind
the pool, on the baseball field adjacent to the pool, and Philadelphia Lutheran Church next to the rec
center. There are about 6 handicap spots available next to the pool. If you have anyone that would
need priority please let me know ahead of time and we can reserve those spots. Otherwise, there are
standard handicap spots in the lots. The circle drive in front of the rec will be used for swimmer drop
off.
WarmUps:
Friday we warm up from 4:20-4:40pm, Saturday is 7:30-7:45am.Meet Expectations For Swimmer and Parent Flow:
When events are announced, swimmers will report to the Clerk of Course in front of the lifeguard
house.
- If entering from the shallow pool side, they will go up the blue ramp and down the stairs into
Clerk of Course. We ask that swimmers and parents please keep the ramp clear so it does not
create congestion.
- If entering from the field side, they will enter the pool deck from the side entrance and make
their way up the closest set of stairs, across the walkway, and down the stairs near the ramp
into Clerk of Course.
- We will have a staging area as the swimmers leave Clerk of Course to the blocks. We will have
a set of chairs near each end, one near the turn end for the 8U 25s and one for the dive end.
Our goal is to have a heat in the water, a heat “on deck” behind the blocks, and a heat “in the
hole” in the chairs. This should allow us to get more events/heats into Clerk of Course and
hopefully avoid any delays.
- When swimmers complete their race they should exit around the slide to keep traffic flowing
one way.
Vendors
- Eagle Sportz tshirts will be set up near the main entrance to the rec center.
- Food trucks will be set up on the infield of the baseball field next to the pool for both days.
Emergency personnel and first aid will be available at the lifeguard shack or around the pool at all
times during the meet.
Inclement Weather
- If lightning or thunder are detected within a 10 mile radius during the meet, everyone will need
to clear the pool. If lightning reaches a close proximity of 5 miles or less, you may return to
your vehicle during this time. The rec center gym will also be available in the case of severe
weather. NO ONE will be allowed on pool deck. Coaches will make a decision to continue or
end the meet.
Pool Deck/Seating:
- Each team is allowed one coaches tent on the pool deck. Families are allowed to set up along
the perimeter of the pool deck against the fence and under the covered areas, but not past the
slide into the coach’s area.
- Tents are allowed outside the pool deck in the grass, on the baseball field, and the area near
the splash pad. We will have designated team areas to try to keep teams together. There ae
entrances to the pool deck from all sides
Heat Sheets
- We are printing heat sheets. Heat sheets are also available through the Meet Mobile app for a
small fee.
